03/16/03 Bud Fischer Wow! Another hero. Lenny's car did have a GMC six, but the unbeatable factor was the turbocharger - a first for that time. Lenny won everything until he "rolled it" on the back straight at Oldbridge. It was a gentle roll, but it seemed to spook him. He never dominated after that. His prominence lasted two seasons.
02.14.09 Waylon Correct me if I am wrong but I have pictures of my grandfather Ed Sigler driving this car as well. Does anyone else have more information on this?
Thanks, Waylon
01.29.11 Walt Rogers Ed Sigler did drive the 162 for Carl and it was ed Sigler who slid down the back stretch at old bridge.  Was there when it happened with Ed's son George who was my brother in law an ed was my father-in-law who helped me greatly in my racing career starting in 1972.  Growing up with Ed an racing every were was a great part of my life an many of the Bayshore gang that Ed helped along the way like my brother Gary Rogers Neil Rutt and his brothers Warren an Roger.

Ed drove many cars for many owners Big Johns 5 Vick Gilberts 147 the piggybank 81,XE1 team car to XL1 driven Joe Kelly before he was hurt. Ed had to give up racing after losing sight in his left eye do to cancer.  Ed's two grandsons Gary Rogers an Walter Edwin Rogers are working with NASCAR teams since leaving IROC . ED would be proud to see them an what they are doing .  Ed was great friend and a gas to be around,  THANKS BIG ED,

PS: The week after the flip, Ed came back to win the main.  The car 162 ran fuel injection as a mod and carbs as a sportsman.  Never ran a turbo. Mod and sportsman ran together back then. Get your tongue a sleigh ride/ Gardellas Hurricane
03.14.11 Mark Tresch these pictures are great, on those early evenings, or on any given Sunday afternoon , when my father and i got there enough , lenny would always have his pet boxer there with him, he was another favorite of mine back then, the sound of that gmc screaming down the front, or back stretch, and the big ball of flame when he would back off, at the corners, it was really something to hear and see , i always looked forward to seeing all the racecars as well up close, which isn't easy to do these days, for the young fans, i enjoyed every bit of it as young boy back then. thanks - mark tresch
12.30.12 Steve Starr

my favorite car in 1954 &1955 at old bridge and wall, if by chance you could not see the car on the track, you could sure hear it, nothing sounds like a gmc six at 5800rpm p.s. Ed Sigler drove Louie Starrs no. 87 at wall&old bridge 1961,  I worked for Ed 1960 at a plymouth dealer for seven weeks ((Ed was much better to race with then work for)

I have a 283 Chevy bored to 292 that Carl built for me back in 1971.  His was on Rt.35 Wall Township?  I used to race at E-town and lived in Roselle NJ.

10.24.13 Tom Berry

I talked to Carl at a GSVSCC banquet several years ago and asked about the #102 and #162 and asked why the two different #.  He told me that they were assigned by Nascar.

Gardella Hurricane - Back in the 50s, when I went to Wall Stadium, this was my favorite car, driven by Lenny Brown. When it was at its best, they were virtually unbeatable. Many great memories.
