Comments: | Comment from Russ Dodge: Maryland driver Glenn Guthrie, in Allan Motherhead's 118, beats out Jackie McLaughlin in the 300. This was the end of the first feature on July 4, 1957. Another Maryland driver, Reds Kagle won the second feature at the wheel of the Nick Rose owned 141. This is a Bob Sweeten photo taken at Alcyon Speedway. Thanks, Russ Dodge |

07/18/03 | Jim Murrow | As I had mentioned under a group picture
earlier, the 118 car of Glen Guthrie, always looked like the "UPPER Class" of
the field. When they arrived, it looked like the "Richie Rich" racing team. The car was often pulled by a Lincoln, and Glen, who was a Lobbyist for Ford Motor Company in Washington DC, on cool spring and fall nights, would drive the race car in a pair of wool worsted slacks, and a mohair sweater! Thanks, |
