02/02/03 Russ Dodge This is a Bob Farley photo. 10A is Bill Wark in Tom Reymer's car, 87 Bob Wisemeyer, to the left you can see the front of the blue and white #2 driven in '58 by Al Tasnady. Thanks, Russ Dodge
03/04/03 Jim Murrow I can't be sure, but I think the gold and white car behind the 87 car is Pee Wee Pobletts in the 46 car. Also, the maroon and white car at the back next to Tas looks like the 67 car of Charlie Whitehead. This car was owned and driven by Charlie, but he always offered the ride to any of the top drivers who were out for the night from accidents or blown engines, and so was driven by just about everybody. Bill Wark later won a feature here with this car.
05/04/03 Jim Murrow I was just looking at this wonderful picture again, and 2 other things came to mind. The 118 car of Glen Guthrie,(who also did some Grand National driving) always was the "UPPER Class" of the field. When they arrived, it looked like the "Richie Rich" racing team. The car was pulled by a brand new Lincoln, and Glen, who was a Lobbyist for Ford Motor Company in Washington DC, on cool spring and fall nights, would drive the race car in a pair of wool worsted slacks, and a cashmier sweater! The Tom and Bob Raymer owned 10 A was driven, at this time, by Bill Wark, but originally it was driven by Al Graeber, of Springfield Pa. Al also drove their midget. Later Al would achieve national fame as the owner/driver of one of the top funny cars on the scene - the Dodge Charger called "Tickle me Pink". Thanks, Jim Murrow
05/13/03 Bill Skinner This photo shows cars lined up for the start of the feature race at Alcyon Speedway on Memorial Day, Friday, May 30,1958. The middle of the starting field included (seventh starting spot) Bob Weismayer #87, 8th- Bill Wark #10A, 9th- Ed Sigler #5, 10th- Jackie McLaughlin #026, 11th- Budd Olsen #98, 12th- Fred Mears #47 (not in picture- scratched), 13th- Glenn Guthrie #118, 14th- Ed Lindsay #88, 15th- Al Tasnady #2, and 16th- Charlie Whitehead #67. Ed Lindsay was the winner of that 50 lap race. Olsen was second; Tasnady was third. Thanks, Bill Skinner
