02.05.12 | Marty Little | Herby told me that he brought this car north in late June or very early July '58 to run only on pavement as Stark did not care for the dirt at all. Herby said he won a feature at Old Bridge on 7-4-58 and also notched a feature victory at New Egypt and wanted to run some dirt. Stark relented and Bob Malzahn assisted with some dirt tires for the venture to Nazareth. Note that with the dirt tires on the car won't fit the trailer correctly with the right rear up on the support bar. Thanks for sharing this rare color shot. |
02.06.12 | Jim Silvius | Since I was born in 1966, And I would of loved to be around
this kind of racing back then. I try to research these pictures as much as I
can, And listen to every word that my dad has to tell me before I send these
pictures into 3-Wide. I don't want to send them in with false information if
I can help it. That is why I enjoy this site so much and the people like you
who come on here and leave their comments. I've been learning a lot about
the cars, And the people from this era. Thank you Marty for the information.
That is really cool! Best regards, Jim S. |
