I remembered having this photo in an old scrapbook. Believe it came from a 1951 issue of NSSN. The caption says it was taken at Ruppert Stadium (the old AAA ballpark that was converted to auto racing) in Newark NJ , and that Holland and Campbell ran 3 5 lap match races, with Holland taking 2 out of the 3. It also says that Holland was next scheduled to run an IMCA sprint race at Sedalia MO. Campbell was having a great year and won the NASCAR National Modified title.

Bill Holland was suspended from AAA in November of 1951 for racing in a non AAA event. In 1952, he showed up a many non AAA sprint car events and also got a stock car to race the NASCAR short tracks. He name shows up at many Ed Otto tracks in the east in 1952.

I think this is the battered coupe that is on fire in the film of the first ROC at Langhorne 1951.

Look at the white wall tire on the front of the race car. You don’t see that today .
