04/05/09 | 3Wide | I guess back in the day when they said loop, it was kinda
like when an airplane or roller coaster makes a "loop"... which means to go
"ass over head" as my dad use to say! When you think about it, they were correct back in the day, and we've kinda screwed the language up through the years! Today when they say "he looped it", they really should be saying he spun out, right? |
12.23.09 | fltlnjok | "LOOPING" comes from the aeronautical term "ground loop" which was similar to an automotive "spin" and VERY dangerous. Frequently caused by too much brake and rudder at too much ground speed. Usually at the end of a landing run, and similar to the situation where a driver brakes & steers simultaneously. |
