Comment from Russ: This is a real nice shot of Bob
Weisemeyer's 87 at Alcyon Speedway on Memorial Day 1958, after the races.
Bob qualified by finishing 4th, in the 2nd heat, but dropped out of the
feature. (This was before he started wearing his "signature" bow-tie) Elton
Hildreth, parked next to him (you can see his "signature" sign on his roof)
ran 5th in the 3rd heat but dropped out of the feature also. I believe,
strictly from my memory, Bob ran an Oldmobile motor in this car. All
additional stories and corrections are gladly received and welcome! This photo was produced from a slide by Bob Burd with the photographers permission. Maryland driver Ed Lindsay won the 50 lap feature and set a new track record. Budd Olsen was second in the 98 and Al Tasnady 3rd, in the Williams 44. |
