Comments: Comment by Jack Walker:  Here is a picture I took of the Herb Tillman car in 1963 at Rambi Raceway in Myrtle Beach, SC. Herb was there for the 1963 Sun Fun 101 race on June 8th. He was on his way from his home in Miami, FL to the Northeast were he ran the tracks in NJ, NY, and PA. The best I can remember the "Sweet 16" was blue with white numbers. He finished out of the top 10 that night, but the race was won by Mutt Powell followed by Bobby Isaac, Ralph Rose, Ralph Earnhardt, and Harold Rush.

06/12/03 Ned Stites III I remember the first visit by Herbie Tillman to Flemington. He flipped in front of the covered grandstand in this car. It was a blue metal flake and I really liked this car. I believe it once was Bobby Allison's car, but I'm not sure on that. He ran many fine races in this car before building a new Sweet 16 which was blue and white and also real neat. The earlier car was later painted black and ran by Cookie House as the "FIVE". I always enjoyed Herbie Tillman at Flemington. He and Will Cagle had a real battle one night when the track was in bad shape due to the horses running at the fair. Will won that one, but it was a great duel between two great drivers.

12.27.09 George Auerbach Herbie Tillman was called the windshield wiper for the way he came around the turns in Flemington. He power slid to the 9s on the turns just like a car windshield wiper.  He did well.  I think he scared other drivers and they stayed away from him.
