Wilbur Force was a dominant force in the
sportsman division at Flemington in 1968. While the car pictured here is a fuel injected
big block modified, it is the same car previously campaigned as a small block. Wilbur did
pick up the 808 ride later on but was never able to duplicate his winning ways experienced
in the sportsman ranks. |

Wilbur and Bruce Hooper were related,

Wilbur Force drove my modified coach, a
dark blue # 94 coach at Reading in (I think) 1971. We also ran at Grantville PA under RSCA
as well. Unfortunately at that time my car was not good enough for Wilbur's talents and he
was never able to duplicate his success attained at Flemington in the #8 sportsman.
A great guy who did not get the breaks he deserved in the modifieds. |
