Comments: | We always talk about this being a family sport, well I can remember a good running sedan being driven by Kumernitsky at Flemington and EWS I think and it looks like he had somebody out there laying down the ground work back in the 60's... |

08/03/03 | Jim Brewer | If I am correct, this is what happened to Ole Bess when Frankie Schneider sold her. I think this was around the end of 1967 or sometime in 1968. It is the square tube cage and the unusual seat support that make me think that this is Ole Bess. I also vaguely remember that John purchased ole #2. Frankie had moved on to the '36 Chevy sedan by then. |
10/30/04 | Tom Hoy | Above in subject is the correct spelling of
his name. This car was built from scratch in 1965/1966. John was assisted by Henry
Vandegrift, Al Snyder, Tom Hoy and his son's Butch and Neal among others whose names I
cannot remember. About the only thing the same as ole bess was the square tube roll cage.
This car was one of the first to have a aluminum rear motor plate, 427 w/injectors, and
power steering. This car never ran with a small block motor. This car was given away by John many years ago to a man in Bath Pa. that was to rehab it. It was to be sold back to John if the new owner ever wanted to sell it. That did not happen and it went through a couple other hands after that. It has been stripped of many of its original weldments for mounts etc. It was purchased by his son's about 4 years ago. The rehab has begun about one month ago. Will advise of its completion in the future. |
03.23.10 | Richard Coleman | In those days John ran a body shop in Ironton and his car was always fixed up and repainted by the next week of running. It always looked like a new car because it was always a fresh coat of paint on it every week. Frankie Schneider would always drive John's cars if for some reason his was not available at Nazareth. |

03.07.11 | Tom Hoy | Wish we had this car at PBurg mall show this week but with Neal's illness it was not possible. |
