08/28/03 | Terry Kelleher | No two way about it that car
with Kelly behind was a terror. The Trenton race in August of 1965 was a washed out and
reset for the following Sunday. Many drivers/owners from all over the east decided to stay
in the N.J./ N.Y. area the week. That Wednesday Wall Stadium ran a special benifet race
for a some local First Aid squaids. Every body showed up for that 100 lap race. It had to
be one of the very beast short track races I have ever seen! Joe Kelly driving Barney's 14 was able to pass on the outside or inside a fete not before seen on the high banks. Kelly won that night lapping the entire field twice. Second place finisher Bobby Allison driving Perk Browns modified said afterward, "We got a problem come Sunday." Terry Kelleher |
09/03/03 | Craig Smith | Saw Kelly run manytimes at Wall and Old Bridge. This car and the XL-1 were rockets in their day. Joe was tough to beat |
