Comments: Another great shot from the lens of Charlie Taylor.  Not sure what happened to the "9" as in 65"9" on this particular night.  I'm wondering if it was a special event where only 2 digit numbers could be used for scoring and they had to block off the last digit, or maybe they were running 2 cars on this night (a #659 and this one???)

09/19/03 HOLAPOK Someone at Wall Stadium got the brilliant idea that car numbers should only have two digits. Scoring or something. The old 659 just never looked right as the 65.

03/26/04 3-Wide I would like to add that Eddie Bohn surprised us at the recent New Egypt Flea Market by donating some old programs from Flemington and Wall to be displayed for all to enjoy at our future gatherings.  Thank you for supporting the site - I'm sure others will appreciate it as well.
11/24/04 Barry Hulse The race car of all time! This car should have gone to the Smithsonian.  I attended the races many nights during each season with my mom and dad, and this race car is my all time favorite! Nights we couldn't go, I'd lay outside in the hammock at our house in Herbertsville and just listen to the cars running at the track. Even 10 miles away, I could hear the POOOOOFH of the 659, and knew Parker was on the track!

Being the tech inspector at Wall in the late 80's after my dad died, I spent alot of time learning from Tom Skinner. Great man! Tremendous knowkedge.  He told me once that some guys with a specially modified Studebaker begged him to use that GMC 6 Cylinder in their car, and they took the car out to the Bonneville Salt Flats. After 2 days of runs, there were some very upset Ford engineers there. They couldn't even come close th the speeds these guys were running with Skinner's 6 banger.
