09.24.10 | 3Wide | ...just a picture of an old sedan being towed into a
speedway... Sometimes its the little things about a photo that make you think. Its not a big deal, and life would have went on just fine if I hadn't remembered this, but I forgot about the railroad tracks that you had to cross over on the way into the back entrance at Flemington... As soon as I started thinking about that, I remembered that feeling you'd get the closer you got to the the entrance gate... and then you'd spot a car on a trailer... maybe it wasn't one of your favorites, but it was a racecar, it and it was cool to get to have your own personal showing of it.... Just you and maybe your dad... checking out a racecar on your way into the track... If it wasn't one of the top guys, my dad would usually be amazed that I knew who it was anyhow... "Whose car is that he'd ask... and I'd surprise him with that's Clyde Suydam's #9.... or John Presley's #16... I don't know if he'd remember if you asked him 30 seconds later, but it was cool to impress your dad once in a while (kinda neat when you realize that you knew something the old man didn't!) Thanks for providing the memory Bob Lowery. |
