Comment from Hank: My notes on the back of the photos say,
"1967 1 feature win at Nazareth in this 707 - In 1968, Bob had no feature
event wins at Nazareth but did score 6 heat race wins." |

01.01.12 | Jack Kromer | Nice shot of Bob at Nazareth National Speedway. |
01.01.12 | Roy Schreffler | Hey folks, this looks like the ride that has the Deasey Ford
Cammer engine in it, compare the valve covers, and the hard slope of the
head, making the exhaust pipes come out darn near facing the ground! Photo taken from a visit I took to Paul Deasey's place back in 2004 ![]() |

01.03.12 | John Marelli | Always a fan favorite, a few years back I had the
opportunity to ask Bob at a show at the Flemington Elks Club. What was the
fastest car he ever drove. Without any hesitation he said Deasey's 707. "It
was Scary Fast!" He drove it at the big track for Paul. He told me "you know
it had that big Ford Motor". He could go down that long chute and blow away
the entire field passing every car, however when it got to the turns, the
handling left a lot to be desired. He said "You needed a lot of finesse to
drive that thing. This picture looks like it might be from that very day. Thanks, John Marelli |
01.05.12 | Ed Johnson | One of the best in his era. Is that by chance Dave Pace in the 808? |
01.06.12 | R L | This is the engine that Junie Donleavy had in his #90 mod that sonny Hutchins used to drive at the big Naz track. |
02.11.12 | Hank Winecker | In the late 60's I was at naz. national for the race that
John Marelli was referring to.... Pickell was in the 707, started the feature mid pack, and within 10 to 20 laps was running away with the race. Around lap 40 or 50 Bob pulled into the pits and loaded the 707 onto the trailer while the feature was still under green. What had happened was, apparently Paul Deasey had not set the car up for a long distance race. ( large fuel tank etc. ) 25 years later Bob Pickell still remembered that race: he told me in a conversation that's one of the hardest things a race driver could do, is head into the pits with an obviously dominant racecar and give up a chance at the win..... |
