Comments: Comment:  I don't remember this particular Rossell car - Looks like it had dirt tires on it, but back then drivers like Bob Rossell were known to drive on dirt or on asphalt.

One of my favorite Bob Rossell lines is "There's been a lot of 3rd place cars that wrecked trying to be 2nd place cars...."  (Bob would rather finish 3rd with a 3rd place car and drive it on the trailer so that he could make more money with it the next night out!

I'm told that this picture was taken outside of Stubby Steven's garage in New Egypt NJ and that the tire in the bottom left of the photo is actually the right front tire of the yellow #29 driven by Gil Hearne that was also kept at Stubby's garage.

I used to ride my mini bike across that same grassy hill as a kid watching my dad and uncle load up an S-1 pinto every Saturday night for wall. Oddly enough, the very last modified chassis that bob rossell fabricated is still inside the barn door to right (nearest the school bus). A lot of history took place in those two garages; names like Gil Hearne, Bob Rossell, Herbie Tillman, Dick Lewis, Pete Britain, Pee-Wee Griffin, Frank Myronchuk, and Jackie Moschera at one time or another we're parked in front of that barn across three decades.
