This photo depicting Otto Harwi and Jimmy Metzler is actually from the
early 60's (around 1961,1962). Otto drove for Harold Cope during the mid - late
fifties, winning several consecutive championships together. |

The #10 car was owned by my uncle Andy Hauck and his two sons George and
Charley. My family used to work on this car and were constant companions at the races. So
I'm confused about the Jimmy Metzler being owner??????????? |

Was Jimmy Metzler a sponsor? Someone else is going to have to help
out on this one.... |

If I'm not mistaken Otto won a feature at Flemington with this car, I
believe during fair week in 1963. |

Sorry to say it, but this was the car Otto crashed and died in at
Middletown racetrack, not the 999. At least the same color and number. I recall that it
was called the Jimmy Metzler memorial car or something like that. Apparently Jimmy had
died prior to the time that Otto was in his fatal accident. |

Sorry to say but Herni Andersen is wrong. Otto Was killed driving John
Cramers 999 This fact I worked for Otto as the track welder at both Nazareth Speedway and
Dorney Park. I remember that phone call early Sunday morning about 2am that Otto was
killed at Orange County Speedway in Middletown NY. I was not there because I was welding
at Dorney on Saturday nites. |
