Provided by Russ: This a neat action shot taken at Vineland Speedway by
William Curley on August 2, 1963. The guard rails fly as Monk Kellar in the 95a and Elton
Hildreth in Mike Link's 3 Links hit the first turn fence. The damage was minimal as Monk
came back to place 3rd and 5th in the twin features and the 3 Links came back finishing
8th in the first feature that night and 10th in the second. Running as a sportsman, it was the 1st sportsman in the first feature and 3rd sportsman in the second The following week the car place 8th in both of the twin 35's ran that night. Mike Link had 6 DNFs at Vineland that season. The most memorable happened one night as he came out of the 4th turn the clutch let go, blowing out of the housing with a ball of fire. Fortunately he was not hurt but it was a frightening sight from the grandstand. Mike's best finish was a 5th on August 30th, 1963. Based on memory, Mike fielded a #3 Pontiac at Daytona with Bunkie Blackburn
driving it. Can anyone help me out with details. What ever happened to Mike Link? Thanks,
Russ Dodge |

04/26/04 | Jim Murrow | Just an aside... The 95A pictured here with Monk Keller at the wheel, was the permanent ride one year for Jackie McLaughlin at Vineland where he was a feature winner in this car on the pavement. |
