Comments: Comments provided by Russ:  The picture I took with a Kodak box camera at Alcyon in 1960. It was taken looking in the pit gate opening in the infield. Busty always parked his 98 in the spot each week. While the picture is not too clear, the memory is. This coupe was brand new and painted maroon and white instead of his usual red and white. Track photographer Bob Sweeten, can be seen wearing the red pants second from the right. Everyone was "checking out" the new eye- catching coupe. Thanks, Russ

04/26/05 Jim Murrow There are a couple other differences in this car besides the change from red and white to maroon and white. The color scheme is also reversed. The prior cars had been painted all red, with a little white trim, where this car is painted white with a little maroon trim.

The reason? The owner of the 98, Busty Luzzo, never saw this car till it was done.

Busty had retired from racing and sold the 98. Then he had a heart attack and was in the hospital for several weeks. Since racing was Busty's favorite thing, his sons decided to build him this car as a present for him when he got out of the hospital. Since they never liked the old color scheme, and wanted to build him a beautiful car, they chose this color scheme. They contacted Budd Olsen, explained what they were doing, and asked if he would come back and drive it for Busty. Budd agreed.

This, in my opinion was by far the pretiest 98 ever. You can't really tell from the picture, but those boys detailed this car out perfectly. Nothing but the best for Dad! Busty loved the car and was really surprised when he came home. The best present in the world.
