from Russ: The great discussion going on over the Bob Wiesemeyer photo in the
three window coupe (the thumbnail directly above where this photo in thumbnail form
resides on page 22a of the 60's) inspired me to send this in. You can compare the bodies. My vote (and again it's based on memory), is that a 348 was always announced as the power plant - Again, I'm not offering that as gospel! It was a real nice looking car when Joe drove it as pictured. 07/16/05 | George Pavlisko | This car, I think! was built by Al Geherum (still can not spell it) of the
XL-1 Custom Auto Body in Avenel, BUT this car was out of Fords New Jersey at Al's shop.
Either I am 100% correct or 100% wrong. The car was run only on dirt at East Windsor, Flemington and MAYBE Nazareth 1/2 mile. This would have been around 1966 to 1967. I was engaged but not married when this car was run. Hey, don't Laugh I got married in the afternoon in May of 1968 so that I could run at Islip that night. |
