09/14/05 | Hemi Andersen | I'm in my 66th year now. I saw Billy race as a teen driving
out to Nazareth from my home in Bergen County, NJ. What a treat to find these
pictures. This picture of Billy Tanzosh has to be an early one as the cars he drove when I saw him in the late 50s and early 60s were powered by what appeared to be GMC cement mixer truck engines and had 5 Rochester 1 barrel carbs and an exhaust stack for each cylinder. His dad owned the Cement plant across the street from the old Nazareth track so engines were plentiful, I would think. Billy had some fierce battles with another famous Nazareth resident, Mario Andretti in another Tanzosh sponsored car the #7, a Hudson Coach. (Picture of Mario and Hudson attached) |
01/26/06 | Bill Hanna | Billy still resides in Nazareth and is doing quite well. Just spoke to him a few weeks ago. |
