Rags Carter was and still is my favorite stock car driver of all time.
The year could be 1965 or 66. He won back to back championships in 65
and 66. Harold Cope always had fast big block fords. Thanks Stan for this
great photo. I feel like i am a kid again. |

I was a big fan of his. I use to go to Middletown, NY and Nazereth wih my
dad. I remember the old grandstands on what became the backstretch and when Jerry Freid
built the big track. I took my son there a few years ago to a NASCAR Craftsman truck race
and almost knocked my ears off from grinning so much. Its a shame it closed down. The
picture(s) bring back some great memories. Remember when Rags flipped the #1 coupe in the
old turn 3 and then took back his old ride from Bobby Botcher and went on a long winning
streak at Nazereth? |
