from Russ Dodge: This is a nice shot of Al Tasnady taken at Daytona in
1962, with the Hanchick and Lerch 44 . In 1959 when the speedway opened, Tas drove the
Lucky Jordan 2 Chevy coupe. It didn't take too long to figure out that the old coupes and
sedans would not cut the aerodynamics required on the super speedway. This was Hanchick
and Lerch's attempt at building a super speedway car. This is a Bruce Craig photo. Daytona trivia question. Who was the first Modified driver to sign-in at Daytona in 1959?
