04/12/03 Scott Pacich One of the best representations of the "high back" coupes. This car was absolutely beautiful. I was standing in the third turn at Reading the night Botz took this out of the track between 3 and 4 BEFORE taking the green in the feature. The car landed upside down, back first that the cage was completely collapsed forward. Botz was not hurt, and returned the following week (or maybe two weeks later) with that stunning Tobias built Pinto small block.
10/16/03 Steve Pados Great pic of the Johnny Botz coupe. Looking at the car, I see it was a 36-38 Plymouth or Dodge. The neat thing is they took the back end off the car and reformed it to give a real sleek look an the back. Nice job, and the reason why most of us vintage guys enjoyed these days of days compared to today. The owners just had a way of making the cars looks fantastic.  By the way the car next to Johnny in the pic is the 03 of Harmony's Dave Osmun.  Keep up the great work.  Steve Pados

12/06/04 Steve Fegley Last time I saw this car it was coming up the Reading frontstrech piggybacked between 2 wreckers.  I believe the throttle stuck on John and he went hard into the turn one wall and I think even rolled over few times.
09.03.09 Brian Bachman The deuce was one of the fastest cars at Reading. Johnny broke his foot in a race in the 70's and could not drive. Bobby Hauer left his number 9 at home on a Fri night to take the 2 for a ride around the Reading Fairgrounds.  He took the deuce to a near win when Kenny Brightbill took the low side on turn 4 and caught Bobby for the win with a photo finish. The next week, Carl Van Horn got the ride in the deuce and took it for a win at the fairgrounds. The irony was that Johnny and Carl did not get along on the race track. But, when the opportunity came, Johnny gave Carl the keys and he took advantage of the situation. What a story!
