Comments: Lee really knew how to get around at East WIndsor in the Sportsman division at East WIndsor.   Lee's brother Pat ran in the Sportsman class as well in the 70's, and just recently Pat McBride (son?) won a rookie feature at New Egypt Speedway (2001 or 2002?).

05/16/03 Mark Yaple The car pictured here is a former Taylor #93 driven by Dick Havens. This 1974 effort was put on the track by partners Lee McBride, Bob Reid, & Rich Kanka. Lee & brother Pat both experienced success earlier in the decade in the Tony K. #11.
05/16/03 Kevin Budden. This particular #11 was owned by the late Bob Reid, the G falcon in the back ground was also garaged along with this #11. Great memories of my father and Bob taking me there.
05/23/03 3-Wide I'm not sure, but I know there was also a Nelson Gunther that raced, and for some reason, I am thinking that that might be him in the yellow Falcon in the background.
07/20/03 Jeff (Lee's son) Thanks to who ever put the picture on here. I have a lot of memories of East Windsor Speedway and Flemington Speedway. Mostly good , but some bad. But that’s all part of racing. In the case of the ( G CAR ) it is Nelson Gunther.
07/20/03 3-Wide Jeff - The picture was supplied by Kevin Budden who knew Lee in a #11 was needed in the Vault so bad that he actually met up with me at New Egypt one night.  He got Nicky to announce over the P.A. for me to come back to the tower to meet him.  I thought I was in big trouble and it turns out it was Kevin with a great picture of Lee!
07/20/03 JEFF To whom it may concern, I have been looking for a site such as yours for quite a while now. I am glad I found your site. My name is Jeff and my father is the late LEE Mcbride, driver of the # 11. He raced at many tracks ,but East Windsor and Flemington are the favorite tracks. If anybody has any questions or needs pictures , I'm sure I can probably help them. Thanks for your time. JEFF
07/21/03 SHARON MC BRIDE / BATTALIA Thats my dad!!!  He is so very much missed, and my brother and I remember these cars very well,..I think i was the only toddler at the time that was able to fall asleep in the stands despite all the noise! My dad loved racing all the way up to the time he passed on. My brother (jeff) and I (sharon) used to run up to the fence behind the Flagger stand and try to get into the background of the pictures being taken of my dad with the checkered flag....these are wonderful memories, and ones we will never forget.  thanks for the memories.
07/21/03 JOYCE & CHILDREN THANKS, FOR THE MEMORIES OF MY LATE HUSBAND!!!! THEY WERE THE GOOD TIMES IN MY LIFE!!!!...SINCERELY JOYCE & CHILDREN
07/22/03 Kevin Thanks to the McBride family on the nice comments, its the least I can do for Lee,who's given me so many fond memories! Kevin Budden....
08/15/03 Tammy To the McBride Family, I know how this picture must really bring back memories for all of you. It does for myself also, you see My name is Tammy (Taylor) Roberts and yes my Family are the ones that owned the car when Dick Havens drove it. What ever happen to the car if I may ask.
10/04/03 BOBBY FIORELLO LETS NEVER FORGET THAT NIGHT AT EWS WHEN LEE WAS LEADING THE HEAT RACE AND LES (Katona) WAS RUNNING 2ND.   AS THEY WENT DOWN INTO THE 3RD TURN LES RAN INTO LEE SENDING HIM OVER THE FENCE.   LES STOPPED HIS RACER AND JUMPED OVER THE FENCE TO HELP LEE OUT OF THE CAR.   THEN I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT: HERE COMES LES IN THE JEEP INTO THE PITS AND TELLS ME TO GIVE LEE ANYTHING HE NEEDS TO WIN.  LEE WINS THE HEAT GOES INTO THE FEATURE RUNNING FOR THE WIN, SPINS OUT IN 2ND TURN, COMES BACK TO FINISH 3RD.  WHAT A HELLAVA RACE HE DROVE.    HE SAID TO ME, " I NEVER DROVE SUCH A FAST RACE CAR IN MY LIFE...."

IF HE HAD GOTTEN THE LEAD THEY NEVER WOULD HAVE SEEN HIM.  ONE HECK OF A DRIVER -  I'LL MISS HIM AND ALL THE TIMES WE TALKED IN THE PITS.

HELLO TO TONY K. IF HE READS THIS - NEVER FORGET ALL THE FUN TIME - A TRUE STOCK CAR PIT CREW MEMBER AND FAN...Bobby (former #K3 pit crew member)

03/24/04 Jerry Wildrick Bob Meshach bought this car in the mid 70's, left every thing the same except added a "B" to the 11, and put a monster big block in. Car was fast,
but by then out of it's time. Pretty sure after that, was it's end.
04/14/04 Joe Meshach WOW!  Jerry is right. My dad, Bob Meshach did race that car at Flemington in the mid to late '70s. In fact, I was the one who painted the "B" onto it!
06/26/04 Tammy Taylor Roberts I guess no one has any idea if the car is around anymore.  You see my Brother, Rich Havens and myself have been looking for this car for a very long time because we would like to restore it back to the original #93.  It's something we really would love to do.  So anyone who has any info, please contact me at Penski2000@aol.com .  I would be so greatful!
