Comments: What a beautiful car.  Howie was a favorite who really progressed through the ranks first as a sportsman competitor in a cool yellow Falcon, then to the modifieds in an even cooler black version and then some other great looking cars including this Burnett creation above.  I used to look for Howie each Saturday on my way up early to Flemington as the car was often at the house on Rt 31 right near the sub shop about 1/4 mile south of the speedway.

06/26/03 Jeff McClung This was one of the sharpest cars I have ever watched at the square, look at the lines on this beauty and that hood scoop, awesome!
10/04/03 Bucky Stevens I think this is in '77.  Bill Bachardy did this body for Howie.  We ran a super light car (<1900 lbs) with a silver and black paint the previous year.  ..Got tossed out of Windsor for rule interpretations.   They only said you had to have a battery, nothing about it having to start the damn thing.  Magneto's you see.
12/7/03 Paul Garzillo WOW! Great picture of a sweet ride. I'm sorry, but I'll take THESE cars any day over the aerodynamic stuff of today. IDEA: Why doesn't some track start a 'RETRO' division with very limiting rules on engines and NO aero panels of any kind. Then, we would see cars like this again, [and all types of bodies like coupes, sedans, falcons, etc] and the emphasis would be on real driver talent, and less on the technology.  I'm sure a division like this would flourish, because the lower cost would let alot more guys "go racing". Possibly some veterans would even come out of retirement to race.  I'm not much of a late model fan, so I say ditch the lates models and start the "Retro's" as replacement during a regular show.

Also, that's Howie's fathers truck in the picture. Howard Sr. was a carpenter- and a good one too- as depicted by the ladders on the truck.I worked with him for a week in Flemington, and he was a nice, funny man.

05/22/04 Joe Bokros I HAD JUST GOT OUT OF THE ARMY AND I BOUGHT A GO -CART FROM HOWIE'S DAD AT THIS HOUSE IN THE PICTURE, AROUND 1972. GREAT LOOKING CAR !!!
12/27/05 Timmy George Was that the car that rolled over I think 2 times at E.W.S ?  I remember it almost rolling over Tex one afternoon ?
12/28/05 3-Wide Not sure when Tex stopped flagging...  might have been before this car???  not sure.
09.08.12 Lenny Swider They don't get much purtier than this. Howie always had sweet looking cars and this one was no exception. Seems like yesterday I would drive past Howie's house and the car would be sitting outside like this. He and his dad had a go-cart business in the basement garage too so there was always cool things to see.

This was one of my favorite looking Mustang bodied cars. I do remember one of Howie’s cars had  the exhaust pipes coming  out the back right above the rear bumper. Not only was it nice , it was fast
