Comments: This guy could drive  really drive, and always found a way to be behind the wheel of some pretty innovative equipment.  Gary ran into trouble off the speedway, but he had little trouble winning on the speedway.

07/25/03 Jeff McClung This is a Whip Mulligan chassis, one of the first to use front torsion suspension, note how small the torsion arms are over the front tires. This was the start of the Gremlin body craze that became the body of choice during the 70s through the mid 80s.
07/28/03 Scott Pacich Not to pick nits, but this car has a coil over front suspension. The arms visible over the front tires are from the high mounted sway bar. The unique part about this chassis was the front kick-ups in the main frame rails.  There were also a couple of independent front suspension models that Whip put together. This particular car was, I believe originally the Egge/Hildebrandt number 9.
07/29/03 3-Wide I've got a great shot of the #9 you're talking about on the way from Dave Gunther as soon as he and his computer are back on a speaking relationship...
07/30/03 Kevin B Hey Dave, I for one will be very much looking forward to that photo!!!
06/13/04 Anthony Ferraiuolo IV Everything Scott said is true. This was the #9 before my father and uncle
bought it.
02/05/06 Larry Ferraiuolo The track was definetly Middletown. The year was definitely 1974 (the first year Gary drove for us.).  By '77 Gary was driving the Merinelli M1, and this, our first of 2 Mulligan cars was switched to a sportsman car for my brother to race as a rookie at Middletown toward the end of '77.
