02.21.13	Allen Urry	Dave Kelly was on of my favorite drivers. When Statewide (Bridgeport) Speedway closed down in the late 70's, Dave, John Kozak, Ronnie Paulson and other top runners came south to US 13 In Delmar for a new Saturday night home. For a young modified fan at Delmar it was great! To have these drivers come down every Saturday Night was fantastic, and then Kenny Brightbill, Jimmy Horton show up for a couple of big shows a year, it didn't get any better than that for me. This picture is possibly from 1979. Note the "For Sale" sign on the hood propped up. I think Dave was in the process of selling the 17 at the end of Reading's existence and preparing to go sprint car racing with the URC. Great driver, great guy and a great time to be a dirt fan!
