Comments: The #A & the #B were part of the Barry Schenck & Charlie Ancello racing team from the early 70's.  The cars were driven by Rich Varone and Chuck Ancello.  Prior to this, (possibly one of the cars in the above photo) was driven by Dick Taylor and had the #1 on the side.  In later years, Barry Schenck would field another Falcon bodied #A with driver Larry Kline behind the wheel, and would go on to have a lot of success.

Larry would continue to drive for Barry in the Modified division and again, would have success.  Barry Schenck go on to partner with Dom Ragno and together, they fielded a very fast "A, that would win a feature at Flemington with driver Tom Hager in his one and only time behind the wheel.

In addition to the driver's listed above, Newt Harman, Phil Meisner, Rick Holden, Al Michalchuk, Danny Klockner and son Billy Schenck would all drive the "#A car throughout the 80's and 90's... always "Maverick Grabber Blue" and always one of the best looking cars on the track.

Interestingly, other than Winston Cup driver Bobby Hillin who drove an A car at a special event at Flemington, I'm pretty sure that every other driver from the 70's, 80's and even the 90's all were from the Trenton/Hamilton NJ area, which was also where Barry Schenck lived and where the cars were usually kept.

12.05.11 Mark Yaple This photo was taken behind Charlie Ancelo's home on Edinburg Rd. in Hamilton, NJ. Also, in addition to Dick Taylor one of the early drivers of the #1 was Charlie's neighbor and Trenton businessman John Scarpati Sr. Rich Varone was from Palmyra, NJ while all of the other drivers were local making this one of the premier teams out of the Trenton, NJ area. Big B was an unforgettable guy and a great friend.

The “B” in this picture was sold to my dad at the end of the “73” season. It was the last square tube framed car allowed on the track. It was banned after the “74” season. Greta pictures
