Comments: Looks like a postcard....  Here's a great shot from the mid 70's during the running of the Flemington 200, taken by photographer Bob Yurko from the "other side"...  Not a whole lot of pictures were taken from the 3rd turn, but for you Flemington diehards out there, I'm sure many of you made your way over to the 3rd turn to catch some of the action!

11.24.11 Bob Burd Great pic, thanks for sharing. The 3rd turn was great, but it was dusty and you couldn't see much of the home stretch and any of the first turn. It was a great place to visit, but not to stay.
11.24.11 3-Wide You're right about that Bob... That's kinda why I worded it above as "many of you made your way over to catch some of the action."  As they say, it was a great place to visit though...  The problem was that at night, the lights of the frontstretch faced toward you and because there were none (or very few) lights on the inside of the frontstretch, you really just kina watched the shadows racing from turn 4 to turn 2....  One thing I do remember though is watching the restarts from back there... They were really cool... and even cooler than that was watching and LISTENING to who ever had the lead through one and two... heading out of turn 2 with a full head of steam down the backstretch, coming directly at you.  Does anyone else remember it that way?
12.13.11 Dominic I remember it that way also, Joe. I think my father brought us back to turn 3 just a few times when we got there late just before the feature. I remember it was tough to see the front stretch, especially if you had a nose to nose finish. Section K, 4th turn was the spot for us. I also remember that the bathroom at turn 3 was a bit scary too, for a kid at least.
