01.28.12 | Ed Shaub | The only name that I remember is Earl Derr driving the car at one point. |
01.28.12 | Mike Feltenberger | The name I had written on the back of the photo was Bill Kamlin. The car was a rocket if there wasn't a turn at each end of the speedway. It was another car that got the same fan response at the 3B of Lou Walters. |
01.28.12 | Mark Yaple | This car showed up at East Windsor one night with Lenny Martin scheduled to be the driver. One look at the chain drive steering with the steering shaft running through the middle of the injectors and into the cockpit, Lenny thought otherwise and declined the ride. |
02.07.12 | George Jr. | Anyone, who strapped themselves in this racecar was super
brave. One look at the steering system and how the car was constructed
was enough for many to take another thought about "what if." Racing has
always been dangerous, but the Superman Modified was a car that, if you
looked closely, was one that had "beware to occupants" closely inscribed. George Jr. Frederick, MD |
02.11.12 | Barry | I remember Paul Fitzcharles running this car a couple of times at Reading also. I believe Earl Derr won a heat with this car one time at Reading. |
03.17.12 | Charlie Miller | Dizzy Dean took several rides in this car at Bridgeport in the mid "70's" , without much success. I do remember the owner getting hurt real bad in a motorcycle accident shortly after. |

I just purchased a book written about drag racer Al Joniec by Charlie Morris. There is extensive info about the Superman car in this book. Out of respect for those involved I will not disclose information about what was said. Al was one of the drivers and he shares his experience. The book is entitled “The Adventures Of Al Joniec, Ford Drag Racer” |
