04.07.12 | Jack Kromer | Definitely perfection. |
04.14.12 | Hank Winecker | hank winecker here, I just had to add, I worked in the Cozze
garage nights with Rick Cozze in the early 70's after we both gave up on
college. This modified that Howie, Bob Pickell, and Dick anderson
drove, is NOT Frank Cozze's rookie car. This car was winning modified races with Pickell at Nazereth, while Frank was racing rookie races at Flemington at the same time. Frank's sportsman was a bit smaller, but it was NOT this modified. |
04.14.12 | 3-Wide | Thanks for the hands on info Hank. I was always told
that Frank's rookie car was the former #44, but it definitely had a smaller
look to it then this one, but thought that was just from "modifications".
Here's a link to a bigger picture of Frank's rookie car: https://3widespicturevault.com/70spics&vitals/I04.14.12_044_COZ_FLM_0074_1.htm Your new info brings up 2 questions that hopefully you'll be able to help us out with: 1. What happened to this great looking coupe once Howie, Bob and Dick were done driving it? Did it get wrecked, or did it stay in the Cozze stable... or did it get sold and become something else? 2. Was Frank's rookie car built from scratch or was it a car that had been raced before and if so, what car was it? |
04.14.12 | Hank Winecker | Rick or Frank, or even Dick may know what happened to the big block modified, but I don't . Franks rookie car was built in the Cozze garage when I was helping Rick with his Vega 44. It may have been a frame from Budd, I don't know. It may also have been built with help from Fred Fritchie who ALWAYS helped the COZZE's. |
