Comments: I'm a dirt track guy for the most part, but this is one amazing photo... even to a dirt track guy like me.  Super cool looking Furslew #2Jr which I think was driven by Tommie Elliott(?), Charlie Kremer sitting in the backseat of his #77... and there, sneaking by on the outside is the #99 Valiant of Geoff Bodine.  I'm 99% sure that this photo was taken during an All Star Series event which put the best drivers (dirt and asphalt) on variety of short tracks throughout the northeast.  Those who were fortunate enough to attend any of these events would see dirt cars on asphalt tracks and asphalt cars on dirt tracks.  In fact, I saw the #99 Valiant run at Flemington... probably a few weeks or even days of when this photo was taken.  Then later, I'd see it run and win at Trenton Speedway!

Like I said... what an incredible photo.

06.08.12 Kevin Newman great picture!...I remember seeing the #99 that night for the first time...not Tommie in the 2jr, maybe "Stumpy"?...

Bodine came from the rear in this race and almost won, running the outside.  I believe this was a race that was slowed by a rain shower.

When the race was under caution, Parker Bohn would pull up to the starter and proceed to run the track at speed to demonstrate that is was dry enough to continue.

I also think that this was 1968.   I saw this race with my father who passed in 1969.

12.10.13 Gary LaFetra Ah, the good old days!!

My dad bought the 2jr in July of 1969. Les Sculthorpe owned the 2jr in this picture (Farmingdale Mobil). This picture was probably in 1970. Hard to tell who the driver was (could be Stumpy, we had many during that time).
