I was at the Fairgrounds for that first win. If my memory is correct... Kenny passed Tas who was in the 44 coach for the win. Hard to believe that was over 43 years ago... Those were the glory days of modified racing... Thanks for posting this picture.. It brings back a lot of great memories... |

Some of the Red Kirsch photos I got to go through included many taken from Grandview (he also had the photo stand there in the late 60’s and early 70’s). He had a number of photos of Kenny’s gray coupe #19 (looked like a 40 Ford body but I am not really sure) after he flipped & destroyed it. We talked about that photo and Red said that when he saw Kenny first starting out at Grandview his prediction was “if that guy can ever get his foot together with his steering, he will be a good one”. Well, obviously he got them together and Red was right. |
