Comment from Phil: It's the pit area - Bridgeport Speedway -
probably 1974 or 1975. This was the days of Drag Rubber, Injectors and
Alcohol. GREAT TIMES! Raph Brown is standing next to his Vega bodied modified. Notice the Raceway Speed Center decal on the left quarter. Ralph worked behind the counter at Raceway for a while back then. Fred Bitner, who assembled the Injected Small Block Chevy power plant for Ralph, filled in some pertinent facts: This car was a Johnny Botz car that Ralph had purchased. Fred was pretty sure that when Ralph got this car it had a coupe body on it. The coupe body was pretty rough so Fred and Ralph replaced it with Vega sheet metal. The Vega sheet metal came from Harvey Gray's wrecking yard which in those days was located in Newtown PA. The neat thing about this car is that the chassis was built by Davey Brown! Fred said he remembers towing this car to the tracks with his '74 or '75 Chevy short bed pickup. Fred's remark: "It seemed like yesterday." |

Great photo, I'm going to sound like a skipping record here. This is what a ''MODIFIED'' should look like! I never thought I'd say this, but I lose interest in Modified racing a little more with each passing season due mostly to unrecognizable cars-sheet metal and way to much technology put into them. |

I liked when Ralph came to Reading with this car in 76 or 77. The car was silver with a Blue Frame and Blue numbers. I thought it was a sharp looking car and Ralph started to get some good finishes at Reading with it. |
