Comments: Comment:  Here's where it all started... Jimmy Horton in one of his first rides at Nazareth Speedway.  It's been great to watch Jimmy win for the last 40 years and really great to see Jimmy get the win at New Egypt on 3/23/13!  If this car looked familiar it's because the car was also run with a blue and white paint scheme with a big block, with Bob Pickell behind the wheel.

Look at how his arm is almost resting on his knee that is looks like it's almost hitting the steering wheel! Things have come a long way as far as driver comfort and safety  over the years. And what a great ride this guy had over the years. 40 plus years and still winning races!

I remember when Jimmy was running a 43 at Middletown in the 73 or 74 season.  He was running and pretty much dominating the sportsman division.  I was told He was running there on Saturdays because he wasn’t old enough to race in Jersey (had to be 18 and he wasn’t 18 yet).  Not sure if that part is true or not.  I think the car was blue then (again not sure anymore).  I believe he won the sportsman point title.  There was another Horton running sportsman there at the time.  I think he was a Jim also.  Ran a nice blue #21.  I think he won a few times over the years.

Correct, Jim Horton of Suffern, N.Y. I am quite sure, the part about being too young to race in N.J. is correct, I also used to follow the Cozze bros. on the way up to OCFS, up rt. 284, in N.J.
