Comments: Comment:  This car... this driver.... represents what the early 70's at Flemington Speedway were all about to me.  Oliver Butler was an amazingly consistent racer that would bring it home first when a win was within grasp, and who would finish in the top 5 when it wasn't.  A very smart racer and the red Silliman #4 with the white wheels and white bumpers was always around the front when the checkered waved.

What a great driver. The type of driver every owner wished for. Very easy on equipment, but very fast.  Ollie had great success in Al Silliman's #4.

Ollie was a very humble man and he made it a point to congratulate the modified feature winner after each race. Ollie was a smart racer.  He and his brothers built and drove their own race cars which gave him a respect for the equipment he drove.  Many times he would say to me after a heat race “ don’t change a thing, I didn’t show them all the apples”. He would say there were some squirrels up front and did not want to take a chance.  We got qualified.

Had a lot of fun with Ollie and his Family and many good memories.
