I always liked that car and driver combo, I think I first saw it at Syracuse, then at almost every yr. at the season ending 200 lap races, I even followed them from the D.Boon 200 at Reading in the AFT. to Flemington for the 200 there same night at about 90 MPH all the way. |

I have mixed feelings when I look at this picture. This driver and this team were an awesome combo. The Statewide team had some success with Billy Osmun driving. Even less with Gary Balough but when Jimmy Horton was given the controls this team hit the ground running. Jimmy and the Smiths even became family. Jimmy has driven for many good car owners in his career but none that gave him the equipment that George Smith gave him. That looks like him behind the car. He was a car owner that ran with the big dogs. I don’t mean to take anything away from the other teams Jimmy drove for but this was a great team., |
