Comments: Comment:  Here's a great picture from a Saturday afternoon in 1972 at Flemington Speedway in Flemington's first season of their newly created Rookie Division.  That's Dick Collins in what was a light blue/aqua colored #16 and Al Michalchuk in a dark blue #292.

This is probably one of the first pictures ever taken of the #292 as Al's exciting driving style meant that this dent free coupe wouldn't stay dent free for very long.  Over the next 2 seasons, more and more of the body would get cut away until finally what was left of the car after a few rebuilds was sold off at the end of the 1973 season to Bunkie Robbins and ended up with Lenny Martin Jr, who drove it at East Windsor a handful of times as a #292.  Not sure what happened to it after that.

Dick Collins would become a steady Sportsman competitor and would later campaign a Vega bodied sportsman with the same #.  I always associate Dick Collins with Flemington as he was one of the first cars that I always remember taking to the track during those early afternoon sportsman warmups.

It's because of the races that I watched when I was 11 years old at Flemington and East Windsor, with drivers like Al Michalchuk and Dick Collins that created the memories that inspired this website.

11.23.13 Rich Miller Talk about the power of a picture to take you right back to a certain time... You can feel the crisp April air and sunshine on your face in this one.  I've never seen a photo of the #292 without all the dents, additionally you don't see many shots of Al on the inside.  Great picture.
