Comment: This was a magical time to be a modified stock car
fan. You spent all week in school thinking about how many days were
left before you'd be back at the track watching Stan in the Big Donkey and
Pee Wee in the #72... and Dick Havens, Oliver Butler... Sammy
Beavers... Mike Grbac... Instead of listening to the teacher rattling
about some poem or about some president, you'd be sitting there drawing
coupes and sedans... sliding sideways... with flames coming out of the pipes
and dust whisking up of the back tires.... Eventually, it'd be Friday again and that meant Friday Night at East Windsor Speedway.... and if you were a Stan Fan, I can bet I know where you'd be standing at the end of the night..... |
