Comments: Comment from Scott:  The attached photo is of Chic Ronan's R2 taken by Ace Lane SR. at Windsor in (I think) 1970.  It was purchased by my mom, Ruth.  The Vega body came from Tilghman's Junk Yard, located at the corner of Rt. 68 and Monmouth Road (Rt.537) in Springfield Twp. NJ.  Chic lived about 1/2 mile from Tilghman's.  Chic always considered Tilghmans his "major sponsor" although I have to wonder what arrangement they had regarding the parts we got from there.  The frame was bought in kit form from Tobias and put together by Chic and myself.  I grew up next to Chic, who I will always consider him my 2nd dad.  I miss him very much.

11.14.15 John Mc The Tobias frames weren't available until 1972, so this picture was probably from '72 or '73 at the earliest.
11.14.15 3Wide Vega's didn't come out until '72 so I'm thinking it was from a little later as well.

vegas came out in 1970

11.14.15 3Wide Just checked and you're right.  I would have lost that bet.  For some reason I thought Pintos and Vega's both came out in '72 but they didn't.  The earliest the photo above can be is the very end of the 1973 season or sometime early in the 1974 season.  The reason I can be sure about that is there is a picture in our trivia section of a group of cars at EWS and one of the cars is the #292 Michalchuk coupe, however it is the #292 after Al sold it to Lenny Martin Jr.

You "3Widers" never cease to amaze me on your combined knowledge of our racing's past.   I helped Chic put the Tobias frame together and mount the Vega body.  My only excuse on getting the time period wrong is the being born in 1949.
