Comments: Comments from Scott:  I've attached a untouched photo of Chic's sportsman Vega, built on a new Tobias frame.  I believe this was its 1st time out at East Windsor in 1974 or 75.  This photo was taken by Ace Lane and was given to me by Chic's daughter, Debbie Richford.

The group of untouched photos is of the Vega before paint and then being lettered by Chic's brother-in-law Bob Hannah. The next several pictures show the Vega's demise at a late race at East Windsor.

The final photo is of the rebuilt R2 with a '37 Ford coupe body which was raced in either 1975 or 76.  The coupe was painted by Johnny Leach with John asking that Chic put Quality Auto Body somewhere on the hot rod, which he did on the trunk lid.

These 6 photos were taken by Chic or his wife Cathy and were given to me by their daughter Debbie Richford.  Hopefully, these photos can be become part of 3Wide's photo gallery.

David Rogie

When I was a young boy my mom used to take me to Columbus Farmers Market every Thursday during the summer. On our way down Route 537 we would pass Chic's house (I can still picture it). I was so excited the first time I saw the car sitting on the trailer in his driveway. Every week I couldn't wait to see if the car was out of the garage ready to go to East Windsor the next night. Chic never won a race that I was aware of but it didn't matter. It was one of the few cars I saw away from the track that made going back to Windsor even more exciting.

11.14.20 3Wide ....and that my friends is exactly who this site was designed for.....  those of us who had the same experience as David above, and who still remember the excitement that seeing a racecar at a house, or garage... and then seeing it on the track, felt to us all.
