Comments: Here was a very steady Modified campaigner who always drove the great looking little #3 coupe at East Windsor and Flemington.  While I don't remember Walt winning features, he was out there each week and he and his great looking cars were usually somewhere near the top 10 when it came time for the feature payout!

02/26/04 Fred Voorhees Walt is the local outdoor equipment dealer here in my hometown of Ringoes, NJ.  I have purchased a number of things from him over the years, in part, because of his past involvement in the local racing and more currently, because he always took out ads in racing programs.  Anyway, Walt told me that he did in fact win a feature at the East Windsor speedway.  If I remember right, he said it was a big win for him because he beat Billy Osmun in doing so.
02/26/04 3-Wide Thanks for the update Fred.  Please let Walt know how much his efforts were appreciated.  Like I said, I don't remember him winning features, but I always remember his great looking blue coupe.  It was a real nice shade of blue and he always held his own out there against the some of the best of all time in the mighty Modified Division.
03/04/04 Walter Onora Prior to the coupe, Walt also drove a sedan, at Flemington and East Windsor.  I believe Glen Fitzcharles drove this coupe briefly in the mid seventies.
08/21/04 Bucky Stevens Walt is one of the true gentlemen of the era.  He ran a low budget hobby type team that was competitive.  Look at the bumper and rub rails.  He got so mad at the "squirrels" who had to hit everything he built the extra duty.   When told he could go a lot faster is if the car was lighter, he said he didn't have time to redo the body each week.  He even painted them white so people could see them in the middle of the pack.

I spent many nights sitting in this car at Walt's shop as a 7, 8, 9 yr. old while the boys played cards.

I had heard more than once over the years that this car is still around, possibly owned by Ryan Kerr's father, think his name is Earl.
