Comments: This is one of my favorite photo's in the Vault.  It was taken by one of the best in the business (Paul Irving) of one of the best in the business!  While I spent my weekends at East Windsor and Flemington, I'd always read in the racing news that Carl was busy elsewhere winning many, many races at his stops such as Reading, Nazareth and others.  I think Carl also may have won races at East Windsor an Flemington on infrequent visits as well.

I don't know all the details and I'm hoping that you guys can help out with more info of Carl's driving career and involvement in Speedway ownership and promotion to help keep the sport of short track racing around for us and future generations to enjoy.

07/26/04 Joe Meshach I've always been a Fuzzy fan! I had pictures of all of his cars on my bedroom walls, but the Yellow and Orange 71e was always my favorite.  I always enjoyed watching Fuzzy race in the old days at Harmony, then at Middletown and Nazareth.
07/29/04 Bob Hummer Sr I was always a Carl "Fuzzy" Van Horn Fan since the  60's. Carl was a True Racer, He built the chassic, body and the Engine in all His cars. He had a wealth of knowledge for chassic set up, He knew how to build a engine 2nd to no one and knew what had to be done to be competitive. He always had a sharp looking & well maintained car!   Last but not least He had what it took to get to the front. I know He raced at least 5 decades and it may even be 6 decades. Talk about a experienced Racer and car builder!!!

The first Vega body car I can remember was in 1974 and it was the Walt
Garret 2a that Carl drove at Reading, Nazareth and Middletown.

One last thing - Carl didn't only know how to build race cars but he also built Harmony Speedway in the 60's along with His partner Dick Crouse. Carl was the one that did the D-shape design and comfortable huge concrete bleachers.  More than likely the place would still be owned and ran by Carl (just my opinion) if he did it on His own .

10.28.10 CHIP Yeah this was the next Generation1978 of 71e's.The one before this car was the one that had those over roof fuel injectors with 500+ci motor Fuzzy use to run.,....
