Comments: With just a lavender coach body picked up from Matt McMann, Al built this car as a back up for his 1974 Rookie Modified Season using 3 X 4 channel that he bought at the scrapyard.  The car had a 55 Chevy kick up in the front as the car was made close to the time when Al thought some tracks still might require part of the frame to be stock.  It was powered by a 427 which Al ended up using for about 4 years.

The end of the road for this cool looking coach came when one of the front bars (seen here behind the front axle right where the frame kicks up) broke coming down the front stretch at East Windsor Speedway causing the frame to dig into the ground, with the car then taking a very bad flip.

02/06/05 Todd Jenkins Jerry Camp's 9A can be seen in the background.
02/06/05 Mark Yaple To the left of Al is the 9A driven by Jerry Camp.
02/09/05 3-Wide Right on time Todd - I saw that #9a back there and figured you'd come out of your hiding place!  If Chic, Brennen or Camp are anywhere in the picture, you'll find them!  All I know is that if we ever have a special edition of 3 Wide "Jeopardy", I want Todd and Mark Yaple on my team.
02/10/05 Fred Voorhees Man, I remember this car as if it were yesterday!  ..ok, maybe last month or so.

Seriously though, Al Michalchuk was truly a one of a kind driver with a drive in his heart to do whatever it took to be in competition every week. And when he was, you can be sure that the outside fence at Flemington was quaking in its boots!   One of the most exciting drivers ever.
