Comments: Feels like your standing on the walkway, watching the mods.... hey, there's Chamberlain..., and hey... here comes Brightbill...

This picture also shows how difficult it was for the drivers to see very far ahead as the height of the inside wall along with the fact that you the drivers were almost always in a turn made this one of the most challenging tracks ever.

Pretty sure that this is a former Bullock car as Mark Bullock once explained to me that his dad would never run the sprint car style rub rails for fear that if the car ever got spun, and was facing oncoming traffic, the rub rail would act as a ramp where the oncoming car could get lifted into the cockpit.

04/25/05 Paul Garzillo Absolutely one of the greatest dirt cars of all time.  I actually went in the pits one Saturday night[as a foolish teenager] with a tape measurer trying to find something illegal with the car because Gerald was so dominant!

It was so little it found all the holes and went to the front! Remember the unique sound that Ford / Gus Frear power made?  It had an actual stock bumper on its rear for a time. You can see the silver edge of it in the photo.
04/29/05 Under the Radar Talked to Mark on 4/28 about this car. You're right about the rub rails. Joe Bullock feared that if the car got turned around they could launch an oncoming car into the driver's compartment.  This particular picture was taken after Joe had retired, and sold the equipment directly to Gerald and Gus Frear.
07/12/06 FRANK MILLER This picture was taken in 1978 when Flemington had put up extra money for running a carb .Gerald towed from EVERTT PA every week about 275 miles to the track so he was after all the $$$$$ he could get , His last win was 50 lap carb Champ race he beat Kenny Brightbill by inchs. I remember I was there from 1974 till thay paved it. GOOD by FLEMINGTON SPEEDWAY!!!!!!!
