Comments: Many of us had this great view for years at Flemington.  What's unusual about this photo is it looks like the initial start of a modified feature from around 1977, in front of a packed house... during the day!  It doesn't look like Harry Dee has his coat on so we're thinking it may have been taken during a special Memorial Day Weekend race.  Were you there???

10/00/05 Gglenn923 I don't remember this particular race but it sure shows Flemington at its finest.  What a line up of drivers! Nice to see Larry Bowers in the picture. He was always a "little guy" in the modifieds not with the best of equipment.    I used to sit in the first turn bleachers near where his wife and family sat.   I remember them being so excited one night when he won a heat race.
03/20/06 TV Tom That's what it was all about.
05/15/06 Dwight Clock This might have been the make up of a rained out feature. They were always run first.
09.21.10 3Wide By the way... This is the photo that inspired the drawing by David Allen Graul that was provided at the 2007 Motorsports show to 100's of fans....
11.02.11 Carrie Gibson Some of my best childhood memories are of being at Flemington with my grandparents Larry and Marie Bowers.  Its nice to see a pic of my grandfather on the track. I wish I could go back to those days but I can always cherish the great memories.
