44 was taken at Bridgeport Speedway. Remember later Budd wrenched the 44 for Frank Cozze.
Budd won a feature at Bridgeport in this car and I would guess it might be the last one or
one of the last features Budd won. Without looking it up, I think it was in 1973 when
Bridgeport ran a full season under the promotion of Leon Manchester. Remember B.O.S.S. and
Budd's home were only a few miles from Bridgeport off of Rt.295. How nice it is that the Eastern Motorsports Press Association is inducting Dick Cozze as a car owner into its Hall of Fame in January. Thanks, Russ Dodge |
