picture provided by 70's Sportsman and then Modified racer Bob Turlip. Many of you
will remember Bob in his orange #8 Gremlin from the mid 70's. Not sure what color
this car above was, but Bob tells us that it's the former #3 driven by Mike Sickle. Bob adds that this picture was taken the second time out in the car... Looks like Bob decided to take on the wall... and from this angle Bob, well you don't want to know who we think is winning! (What happened next Bob???) |

06/10/06 | Bob Turlip | I knocked every fence down every where I went... As far as what
happened next, my dad took the mirror out of the car! (I was lookin at that old
Brenn Coupe that I was ahead of!) And yes, this car was orange. Two Lap Turlip |
06/10/06 | 3-Wide | Hey Bob... some of us never turned even one lap, so my hats off! As far as this shot goes, did it comeback down on all 4's or did it get ugly? |
06/14/06 | Bob Turlip | I got up on the fence, wiped out the bottom of the motor and trans and
landed back inside at turn 3 with no front axle. As you can see, the junk was a little
dated, my idol Stan said "son you have to cut that thing up, you got a tourch and a
welder?" I'll be down this week, (I would have loved that.) He wrecked his #27 that week, so Dad, Gene Coyle and I did it. Moved the rear up under the seat, stretched the front, put some Koni's on it in a WEEK! The thing was so old that the last week of Flemington or so the frame broke in half between 3 & 4. The next year (we built) the Gremlin. |
