Comments provided by Richard: The picture is of Billy
Pauch in 1975, (you can see Billy to the right). Since the photo is at
Nazareth, it was probably early in the year, before Flemington opened. Bill
would win the Rookie Division in 1975. I cannot remember who took the photo or gave it to me, but I was in High School with Bill, and a lot of my friends were hanging around Pauch right from the start, (most of those guys contribute to the Vault). Even in High School, Billy had a work ethic towards racing that has carried him all the way to his present status as one of the all time greatest dirt racers. Rich Guy |

08/03/08 | Rich Reinhart | By the short sleeves and leaves on the trees outside of turns 1 and 2 it`s warm out. Nazareth raced on Sundays so Billy was there pretty much all year in 1975. |
08/07/08 | Mike Stevens | Billy drove this car on pure heart and guts. He was fun to
watch from the very beginning, he would bounce the rear off of the wall in
turn four until he eventually lost it. Then he would pass every one again
and earn top ten. The car had a buggy spring front end, with a chain wrapped over the frame and the left rear to give the car six inches of body lean. Leaf springs all around, take a leaf or two out of the left rear to get off of the corner better. Look at the high tech steering set up, stock box. Talk about all of the greats, Schneider, Tas, Chamberlain, etc, you have to include Billy. Thanks for all of the great memories and the joy of watching a master at work. |
