Comments: | Pretty sure this photo is taken as the cars come out of turn 2 onto the backstretch, but then again I'm not totally sure. What I am sure of is this is a really great angle to view the action from and when Stan and Glenn were on the track, there was usually plenty of action. |

12/17/08 | Stan Zemanek | This photo was taken by Ace Lane! I can remember like
it was yesterday that I would get to the track around 1p.m. And wait for the
front school house gate to open at 3. As soon as I got into the track the
first thing I did was go over to picture stand and see what was new. Ploski
being my hero, I always seemed to spend my 5 bucks on a new 8x10 photo each
week. If memory serves me correctly this had to be around 77 or 78. I'm also pretty sure this was the first year that Stan drove the weld car as it had the red outline all the way around the car. One thing I do remember for sure is that Fitzcharles was scary fast in that Chevette. It seemed like everyone in the stands was talking about how he would get seriously hurt if he was ever in a "bad" one because the car was sooo damn small. This Chevette was what Verona and McCabe thought would be the answer to Chamberlain's Falcon but it just never seemed to be reliable for Glenn. |
